The Ludington Area Center for the Arts' (LACA) film committee will host a showing of the 1990 comedy Joe Versus the Volcano Thursday evening, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m. in the center's performance hall.
The film will be shown on the center's new 197 inch LED wall.
Joe Versus the Volcano tells the story of Joe Banks (Tom Hanks) who is dying, apparently. This is good news, since his life was not much worth living anyway. On the upside, a strange millionaire (Lloyd Bridges) offers Joe a way to die with meaning and dignity: by hurling himself into a volcano. With plenty of spending cash and an ensemble of new luggage, Joe embarks on an absurdist journey to his demise, guided by two very disparate sisters, and trying to puzzle out the meaning of existence.
Movie admission is a $5 and includes a free bag of WESCO popcorn. Water, Soda and candy will be available for purchase.
In addition to Hanks and Bridges Joe Versus the Volcano stars, Meg Ryan, Robert Stack and Abe Vigoda.
