'Feinberg & Kivela: Passion, Purpose and Paint'

Ludington artists Rachel Feinberg and Anne Kivela will be featured in the Ludington Area Center for the Arts’ (LACA) performance hall lobby gallery throughout the month of May.

The pair’s exhibit ‘Feinberg & Kivela: Passion, Purpose, and Paint’ will feature a mix of landscape and still life paintings. A public artist reception celebrating the exhibit will take place from 5-8 p.m., Friday, May 5.

Both Fienberg and Kivela are often inspired by nature and the beauty of their surroundings. Kivela loves painting florals and is currently branching out to include landscapes. Lately, she has been producing some colorful abstracts. While Feinberg, who is relatively new to the Midwest, is currently incorporating the drama of the four seasons with its wide range of colors, from the muted tints and tones of winter, to the vivid explosion of various color palettes in the spring and fall, and the many shades and hues of green in summer.

“My goal in my work is to create moods that can capture the viewer as it has me,” Feinberg says. “I strive to generate curiosity as one observes the vistas, with the intention of drawing one in to the depths of the images which I find so very intriguing.”

“My style of art is very loose and fun. I strive for a playful interpretation of my subject matter. My use of color and line work makes my art very distinctive,” Kivela says of her work. “I invite you to explore my work and enjoy the riot of color and fun I inject - and that you too may see the beauty that surrounds you.”

Additional exhibits on display at LACA during the month of May include, ‘Art Snake Road Show’ featuring artwork by 10 Manistee area artists in the center’s main gallery, and ‘Eyes on Me’ by WSCC student, Maggie Hill, in the center’s Unframed Gallery.

The Ludington Area Center for the Arts is located at 107 S. Harrison St., in downtown Ludington. LACA exhibits are available for viewing during normal business hours (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.).
