Adult Pottery Class w/ Mary Case

Mary Case is offering a weekly ‘Adult Pottery Class' at LACA on Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. starting Sept. 29. Registration per session is $25 for LACA members and $30 for non-members and includes 5 lbs of clay, tools, glaze, and kiln firings. Register online at www.ludingtonartscenter.org or by calling 231-845-2787.

This Adult Pottery Class is designed to engage and challenge students of all skill levels. For those new to pottery exploration, Mary will provide project choices for students to learn the concepts of pottery. She will assist each student in successfully creating amazing pottery pieces. Students will learn to build with clay slabs, coils, and other techniques, along with learning glazing concepts that will bring their pottery to completion.

The studio has a catalog of pottery ideas for beginners and advanced students including mugs, trays, bowls, sconces, wall pieces, tiles, seasonal pottery, yard art, vases, and so much more.

Advanced students will be encouraged to work in the direction they desire. The potter’s wheel is available if students have previous experience. These potters will likely need to purchase extra clay from the studio. Mary is a very experienced potter in all facets of the clay studio and can assist those who are working towards progressive improvement on the potter’s wheel. Advanced students can explore pottery at their own pace with their desired level of assistance.

The class fee includes roughly 5 lbs of clay with each class, along with all glazes and kiln firings needed to complete projects. If additional clay is needed, students can purchase clay from the studio. Students may bring in additional glazes, tools, and materials.
