The MMO, led my Michigan’s mandoliner Brian Oberlin, will play an incredible line-up of music from the concert music repertoire. For starters, the orchestra will jaunt along with the music of Jaques Offenbach and Gustav Holst, playing the Can-Can and St. Paul’s Suite followed by a haunting arrangement for solo mandolin of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4, 2nd movement. Next is a rollicking march from Mexico, Zacatecas and the famous Godfather melody by Nino Rota. The special topping on the concert will be the performance of two contemporary pieces written for mandolin orchestra by German composers Ralph Paulsen-Bahnsen and Aris Alexander Blettenberg.
