2nd annual LACA High School Art Competition
The Ludington Area Center for the Arts (LACA) Regional High School Art Competition was created to show case the talent of high school students currently attending high school or home schooled in Mason, Oceana, Manistee and Lake counties. The exhibit will take place in LACA’s main gallery Nov. 3-26, 2020 with an artist reception slated for Friday evening, Nov. 6, 2020 from 5-8 p.m.; awards will be announced at 6:30 p.m. Area high school artists may submit three pieces of 2D or 3D artwork for consideration in this juried exhibit. Prizes will be awarded to the top three pieces in the exhibit.
HOW TO ENTER
Eligible artists may drop off artwork at the Ludington Area Center for the Arts, 107 S. Harrison St., from Oct. 6-27, 2020 (T-F 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday noon to 3 p.m.). All paintings and photography should be matted, framed or ready to be displayed. The name of the student, name of the artwork, the school the student is from and their grade must be on the back of all artwork. An exhibitor form and inventory sheet must be completed at the time of submission. Artist may sell their artwork if they choose to. Artists will retain 70% of all sales.
Artwork will receive e-mail notification of whether their artwork was accepted or declined by Wednesday, Oct. 28. Artwork not accepted into the show may be picked up after Nov. 5, 2020. Accepted artwork must stay on display through Nov. 26, 2020
All artwork (accepted and declined) must be picked up by Dec. 16, 2020.
Selection committee will be comprised of 3 artist members of LACA. The judges consider color/values, technique, form and presentation as part of the criteria in judging the works.
