Watch: 2021 virtual Girls Rock concert
The Ludington Area Center for the Arts (LACA) along with Ludrock Nation and the Zonta Club of Ludington teamed up to host their annual Girls Rock concert which premier online Saturday, April 24.
This year’s concert was streamed for FREE at www.ludingtonartscenter.org starting at noon.
Girls Rock is an annual concert celebrating ‘Girl Power,’ featuring local female musicians, singers and artists of all ages. The concert aims to celebrate and empower women while also inspiring others to follow their dreams, set personal goals and positively impact the local community by their contributions.
“While the COVID-19 pandemic forced our organizations to cancel last year’s concert and with the spread of COVID-19 still a concern in our area, we have decided it would be best to celebrate the importance of ‘Girl Power’ with our community by hosting a virtual Girls Rock concert Saturday, April 24,” LACA Executive Director Andrew Skinner said.
“It’s a cause we feel, strongly, is worth celebrating and were excited to again be able to focus our energy on planning such an amazing event,” Skinner added.
“Ludrock President Ed Santarelli did an amazing job at recruiting acts for this year’s concert,” Skinner said. “When I approached him with the idea of doing a virtual Girls Rock he jumped at the opportunity and had already started to contact performers by the time he left my office.”
This year’s concert will feature performances by 20 female bands and artists with your host, Ludrock's own Ed Santarelli! The 2021 line-up includes performances by: Babe Ruthless, Jeri Dziabuda, Sandy Forrester, Bella Gasaway, Gypsy Rose, Meredith Hanson, Paula Jury Jarvis, Heather Kaatz, Chloe Kimes, Kraylee Ledger, Taylor Makowicki, Sarah Marentette, Laura Murphy, Elaine Parker, Julie Rasgaitis, Nanette Scribner, Gina Sowa-Pratt, Kaylie Wells, Beth Whitney and Ashley Youngstrom.
Plus, enjoy special messages and tributes from Cathy Organ, Tammy Rogers and the Zonta Club of Ludington.
In addition to streaming online at www.ludingtonartscenter.org the 2021 virtual Girls Rock will be able to be viewed on the LACA Facebook page, www.facebook.com/LudingtonArtsCenter, and the Ludrock Facebook page, www.facebook.com/groups/LUDROCKEMAIL/.
The virtual concert is free to view. A donation link will be made available to those interested in making a donation to the art center.
“It has been a tough 13, almost 14, months since the beginning of the pandemic. Let’s make sure that we all do our part, wear a face mask in public and get vaccinated, so that next year we can all safely gather in the LACA performance hall for this truly important event celebrating all things ‘Girl Power,’” Skinner said.
